Obair ar dóigh ag Banc Beo CO

Tá ag éirí tharr barr leis an BBC – Banc Beo CO i gColáiste Oiriall a osclaíodh i ndiaidh na Nollag. Ní raibh súil ar bith ag na hoifigigh leis an oiread scoláirí a bheadh ag iarraidh cuntas a oscailt. The officers of BBC, Coláiste Oiriall’s student bank had no expectation of the number of students who would wish to open school accounts. Almost 200 accounts have been opened. The school bank officials treated their customers to buns specially baked by themselves.

The six officers were appointed before Christmas and with the help of Una Ní Chorráin (past pupil) and Aine McNally from AIB they are handling accounts for at least half the school’s population. Students found the bank appealing with the 20% interest, which was promised. Mar shampla má chuireann scoláire €10 i dtaisce gach seachtain ar feadh 12 sheachtaine, gheobhaidh sé €144 (sin ús 20% san áireamh).

Ceapadh an seisear oifigeach do Bhanc na Scoile roimh na Nollag: Alannah Nic Grianna (Príomhoifigeach Fedhmiúcháin), Faolan Ó Cathmhaoil (Bainisteoir Airgeadais), Ellen Nig Floinn, Cait Nic Domhnaill (Bainistíocht Margaíochta), Helen Nic Criostail (Bainisteoir Bainc) agus Emma Ní Mhiacháin (Bainisteoir Cumarsáide).

This initiative challenges a team of six students to build a bank and affords them an opportunity to showcase their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Coláiste Oiriall is delighted to be part of the challenge.

The school bank officials have organised a plethora of activities including The Chase, An Cluiche Mór and Jersey Day, Slam Bacála (Bake Off), collecting for the mental health charity, Solas. Tháinig scoláirí ó Ghaelscoil Ultain chuig an Díolachán Cistí. Ba mhaith leo siúlóid a eagrú agus an t-airgead a thabhairt do Monaghan Cavan Palliative Care.

BBC Banc Beo CO has been the outstanding event in this year’s TY and Alannah, Faolan, Ellen, Cait, Helen and Emma have worked extremely hard to bring it all to fruition and have received widespread recognition for their industry.
