We invited back four immediate past pupils to speak to the 5th Year and the 6th Year cohort of students about their own study routines and what worked and didn’t work for them. They spoke about study plans, exercise, study, diet, sleep, part-time work, 18th parties and time on mobile devices. Their talks proved to be inspirational and we hope that they will enthuse our students and improve their work ethic in the coming year(s) as they approach the Leaving Certificate examination.

The four students who returned to share their experiences with the presents cohorts of senior students in Oiriall were Kerrie-Ann Breathnach, who will do Staidéar Airgeadais & Achtúireachta (Actuarial & Financial Studies) in UCD, Erica Ní Dhomhnaill, who will do Tráchtáil (Commerce)  in UCD, Sophie Ní Chonghaile, who will do Tráchtáil le Taithí Domhanda  (Business with Global Experience) in University of Galway and Oisin MacCurnáin, who has already started Fisiteirpe (Physiotherapy) in Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

Lá Pleisiúrtha ag an Lá Spóirt

Coláiste Oiriall held their annual Sports Day in their football field in early September. The more formal and official races, including long jump, high jump and 4x100m relays were held first followed by the novelty races such as sack race, three-legged race, wheelbarrow races and piggy-back.  Students also enjoyed the wide array of inflatables on site. We failed to run the inter-class tug-o-war competition because of the thunder and lightning which enveloped the field from lunchtime onwards. Thanks to Annette and Seosamh in the PE Department for organising a fantastic day.

Bhí lá ar dóigh ag na scoláirí uilig Dé hAoine d’aineoinn na doininne a tháinig go toban go gairid i ndiaidh am lóin.. Bhí siad rannpháirteach i lear mór imeachtaí ó mhaidin go tráthnóna agus bhí iomaíocht láidir idir ranganna. Tháinig roinnt sárluthchleasaithe chun tosaigh agus cloisfidh muid tuilleadh uathu amach anseo ach níor ghlac bunus acu ródháiríre leis na gníomhaíochtaí. Buíochas d’Annette agus do Sheosamh ó phobal na scoile.
