Brendan is Poetry Aloud All-Ireland Champion

Coláiste Oiriall student, Brendan Mac Domhnaill, is the All-Ireland champion in Poetry Aloud competition. He won the junior category and went on to win the overall title speaking two poems in the final in the National Library of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin last Friday.

Coláiste Oiriall in Basketball Ireland Under 19C Schools’ Cup Final

Coláiste Oiriall will play Coláiste Teresa, Kanturk in the Basketball Ireland under 19C Schools Cup final in the Basketball Arena, Tallaght on Tuesday, 26th January. The school’s first chance at an All-Ireland title comes as a result of a victory over Wilsons Hospital, Mullingar in overtime in the Oblate Hall, Inchicore on Friday.

Two of Coláiste Oiriall’s designs have made it through to the Junk Kouture’s regional finals which will be held in the Millennium Forum, Derry on 4th March. Eighty designs will go through to the Grand final in the 3 Arena the following month.
Dea-scéala faoi thrí do Amy Ní Amaill

Congratulations to Amy Ni Amaill, a Leaving Certificate student in Coláiste Oiriall, who won gold in the 800m at the National Indoor Junior (under 20) championships a fortnight ago in Athlone. She defeated Rose Finnegan from Bohermeen AC in Co. Meath in a time of 2:18:96 – the same time as Finnegan.
Aimee Ní Bhraonáin represents Coláiste Oiriall at Maynooth University Awards Ceremony

Aimee Ní Bhraonáin, a Coláiste Oiriall TY student from Glaslough, received an presentation from the Business and Law Departments in the Aula Maxima, Maynooth University in recognition of achieving a grade A in higher level Business Studies in the 2015 Junior Certificate examination.

Coláiste Oiriall Students invited to exhibit at Green Schools’ Expo

Coláiste Oiriall was one of only twelve post-primary schools nationwide who was selected to exhibit at the first ever Taisce-sponsored Green Schools Expo which was held in the RDS last week. The guest of honour was Uachtarán na hÉireann, Micheál D. Ó hUiginn. The exhibition, which showcased outstanding Green Schools’ practice, was attended by more than 4,000-primary students from other schools.
Coláiste Oiriall gets Runner-Up Prize in Student Enterprise Awards

Coláiste Oiriall was awarded the runner-up place in the senior section of the Co. Monaghan Student Enterprise Awards which was organised by the Local Enterprise Office and which was held in the Four Seasons Hotel last Thursday. They received a prize of €200.
