Déanann muid comhghairdeas ó chroí le daltaí Choláiste Oiriall a fuair a gcuid torthaí Teastais Shoisearaigh an tseachtain seo chuaigh thart. Bhí siad ar fheabhas ar fad agus tá muid an-bhrodúil as na daltaí uilig.

Bhuaigh buachaillí Oiriall an dá chluiche cispheile in eadán St. Claire’s, Baile Sheamais Dhuibh sa bhaile. Fuair Seán MacCionna 17 bpointe agus Leon ó Maolagáin MacCába 14 phointe sa chluiche faoi 16 a chríochnaigh 52 in aghaidh 17 le Coláiste Oiriall chun tosaigh.

Bhuaigh cailíní Choláiste Oiriall faoi 20 ar Choláiste Chroí RóNaofa, Iúir Chinn Trá as baile le dhá phointe ar an Mháirt. Scóráil an captaen, Morgan Nic Cionna, dhá chúl agus scóráil Chloe Nic Giolla Bhríde cúl. Tháing pointí galánta ó Lynda Paddy agus Emma Ní Chleirchín. Bhí Alison Nic Giolla Bhríde an-mhaith mar chúlbaire agus d’oibrigh Hannah Nic Sceacháin go dian dicheallach i rith an ama i lár páirce d’ainneoin tinnis.

 Coláiste Oiriall under 16 boys were defeated in the Under 16 Cup competition by fellow Gaelcholáiste, Coláiste na Coiribe in Galway on Thursday. Despite much impressive play in earlier quarters, tiredness resulted in poor shot selection in the final quarter resulting in defeat on a score line of 56-42

Colaiste Oiriall girls defeated Loreto College, Dalkey 57-51 last Friday in a closely fought contest to see them book a place for themselves in the All-Ireland semi-final in early January. Colaiste Oiriall entered this game very much the underdogs have suffered defeat to the same school last year in the league campaign.

Bhí mí-ádh ar chailíní chéad bhliana Coláiste Oiriall inné Dé Máirt ag Craobh Uladh den chomórtas Futsal i Leitir Ceanainn. Tháinig na cailíní sa dara háit nuair a chríochnaigh siad pointe amháin taobh thiar de na buaiteoirí, Coláiste Loreto Milford.

As the curtain comes down on the 1916 Commemoration nationally Coláiste Oiriall organised its final event to mark the occasion last Thursday when Noel Ó Gallchóir from Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal Gaeltacht performed his one man show entitled ‘Ó Pheann an Phiarsaigh’ based on the writings of Padraig Mac Piarais.

Coláiste Oiriall was delighted to welcome Shane Martin, a registered Psychologist of Psychological Society of Ireland, to the school last week to speak with the Leaving Certificate students about resilience and bouncability.

 Is cúis áthais do Choláiste Oiriall go bhfuil beirt dalta dár gcuid imithe ar aghaidh chuig craobh na hÉireann den chomórtas Eigse Éireann. Is comórtas ag rá filíochta amach go poiblí de ghlanmheabhair. Beidh an Chraobh ar siúl i Leabharlann Náisiúnta na hÉireann luath i mí na Nollag.

A group of Coláiste Oiriall TY students who undertook the Gaeilge24 – Speak Irish for a Day project on Tuesday week last, 15 November. The project aimed to encourage young people to speak Irish for 24 hours continously at school, at home, around the town, with friends and at social activities with a view to giving them a positive perspective of the lrish language.

Reáchtáladh imeachtai go leor le seachtain anuas i gColáiste Oiriall chun Eolaiocht, Teicneolaiocth, Innnealtoireacht agus Matamaitic a cheiliuradh – na hábhair STEM mar a thugtar orthu.

Coláiste Oiriall wishes to congratulate former student, Lily Cheung, who was acknowledged with an Entrance Scholars’ Award at a ceremony in UCD O’Reilly Hall last Thursday. A commemorative plaque was presented to the school to mark the event.

Alison Nic Giolla Bhríde agus an Múinteoir Olivia Nic Canainn, Ceann Roinn na Gaeilge. Bhí aiste Theastais Shóisearaigh Aisling i 2015 ar cheann de cheathrar ab fhearr timpeall na tíre as 50,000 aiste. Alison was one of only four students from the 51,996 candidates nationwide who sat the examination to receive this accolade.

Cillian Mac an Fhailí, Lurgans, Carrickmacross and past pupil in Coláiste Oiriall was presented with a DCU Academic Scholarship in the Helix Theatre on the college campus last Wednesday night. The ceremony was attended by his parents, Fiona and Paul and by Coláiste Oirial principal, Brendan Ó Dufaigh. Cillian did his Leaving Certificate in 2016.

Ghlac roinnt iomaitheoirí ó Choláiste Oiriall páirt sa bhabhta reigiúnda de Scléip Gael-Linn, comórtas tallanna a reáchtáltar trí Ghaeilge, a bhí ar siúl Deardaoin seo chuaigh thart in Amharclann an Gharáiste. D’éirigh le cuid acu agus níor éirigh le cuid eile acu.
